I chose my name because I'm over-educated, passionate and articulate, like any good bluestocking.... plus stockings of any color really flatter my slender, shapely calves and ankles.

Re: pics in the banner--it is indeed by a Pre-Raphaelite--Dante Gabriel Rosetti to be specific. I forget what this particular painting is called.

Possibly comes from the use of the term 'slut' to mean 'a slovenly woman' - i.e. someone who neglects the housework. Not 100% on the etymology there.. but a possibility..
