My New Favorite Word

Thanks to the "word a day" newsletter from Wordsmith, I have a new favorite word: ataraxia, meaning "a state of freedom from disturbance of mind."

I realize this blog doesn't get many comments, because, after all, I don't post much. But hey, if you would like to leave a comment here using "ataraxia" in a sentence, that would be way wicked cool.

Thank You Very Mulch

Or, Look Ma, No Weeds!

To borrow from what Dorothy Parker said about writing: I hate mulching. I love having mulched.

If you don't garden, you won't know the important part in this photo is the stuff on the ground--the shredded plant material that prevents seeds from sprouting where you don't want them. I hate spreading mulch, I really do, but I admit that it beats weeding your garden over and over and OVER.
